OopsMemo is a note-taking app made by Henal Communications in the Republic of Korea. This policy explains what the app and this website do with data. The short version: your notes stay on your phone.

Your notes and photos

Notes, photos, categories, settings and your PIN are stored only on your device, inside the app's private storage. We don't collect them, we can't see them, and they are never sent to our servers. Backup files you export are created on your device and go only where you choose to send them.

Sharing and places

When you share a note, its text, time and place are packed into the link itself, after the # sign, so opening the link does not send them to our server. Anyone who has the link can read it, so share it only with people you trust. When you pick a place, the map is loaded from oopsmemo.com and uses Kakao Maps in Korea or OpenStreetMap elsewhere; the words you search for and the map area you view are sent to that map provider to show results. The point you choose is saved only in your note.

Advertising

The free version shows one banner ad served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address and information about how ads are viewed and tapped, under Google's Privacy Policy. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can reset your advertising ID or turn off ad personalization in your Android settings. Pro users don't see ads. On iPhone, the app asks once whether to allow tracking before showing ads. If you don't allow it, the advertising identifier (IDFA) isn't used and the app works the same. You can change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Google Play. We never receive your card or payment details. To unlock Pro, the app sends the purchase confirmation to RevenueCat, a service we use to check purchases with Google Play. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID created by the app, the purchase token and basic device details such as the OS version and country. None of this is linked to your name, email address or notes.

Permissions

The app reads only the photos you choose to attach, and asks for notification permission so your reminders can ring. It asks for microphone access only when you use voice memo or hands-free. What you say is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition (on Android, the speech service set on your phone; on iPhone, Apple's speech recognition, on the device first). Depending on your phone and settings, the audio may be sent to Google or Apple to be processed. The app doesn't save recordings, and neither the audio nor the text is sent to our server. It doesn't access your contacts, and it doesn't read your device's location.

Children

OopsMemo is not directed to children under 13.

Deleting your data

Your notes live only on your device, so uninstalling the app deletes them. We hold no personal data about you to delete. Feedback you choose to send through “Send feedback” is kept as described below.

This website

oopsmemo.com uses no cookies, analytics or third-party trackers. Your language and theme choices are stored only in your browser.

Feedback

If you send feedback through the website's “Send feedback” form, we receive your message, the category you chose, the language, the time it was sent and, only if you enter it, your email address. To prevent spam, we store your IP address only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the original, together with basic browser information. We use this only to read and reply to your feedback, never share it with third parties, and delete it automatically after one year. Notifications about new feedback pass through a notification server we operate ourselves. To have stored feedback deleted, contact help@henal.kr.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
